About the role
Based in the Cardiff and Hamilton areas initially, the Artist Practitioner works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to deliver high-quality arts engagement services to clients on a casual basis. As a multi-disciplinary Restorative Care team member, the Artist Practitioner will deliver a range of Arts Engagement workshops, including group and individual programs and other initiatives delegated by the Lead Artist Practitioner. These services may be provided across the community, hospitals and residential settings in both groups and 1:1 sessions.

The essence of the role
Participate as an active member of the HammondCare team in the application of the organisation’s Mission and values to the pursuit of its objectives in a client-centred, continuous quality improvement work environment.
- Provide specialist Arts on Prescription services to clients and appropriate support and advice to their carers across community, hospital and residential settings.
- Participate as a member of the multi-disciplinary team providing art engagement in a therapeutic environment, including setting goals and providing art modalities to address specific goals related to meaningful creative participation and engagement.
- Work closely with the Arts on Prescription Team to support service development including initiatives in programs, resource development and specialist arts-based training/mentoring.
- Responsible for client monitoring and reporting, in consultation with Team Leaders and Managers.
Essential
- Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action.
- A tertiary qualification in the arts and/or demonstrated experience and skill as a practising artist.
- Demonstrated experience in providing participatory arts programs in rehabilitation/aged care/community/residential/hospital settings.
- Demonstrated ability in the development of participatory arts models, programs, and resources.
- An understanding of the health and wellness needs of the target population, and how to tailor creative engagement services to meet these needs.
- Demonstrated strong organisation and time management skills.
- Empathy and patience.
- A current driver’s license, safe driving record and access to a car.
- Willingness to travel between HammondCare’s sites and services.
- An understanding of Work Health Safety policies and procedures.
