About the role

The fixed-term, part-time or full-time (20 to 38 hours per week) contract until Feb 2025 role of Registrar is based at Greenwich Hospital and provides palliative care reviews to inpatients, outpatients and home visits, and works within the Mission and Mission in Action of HammondCare to ensure that medical clinical care is provided to inpatients and outpatients of the Palliative Care service, under the supervision of the Specialist-in-charge.


The essence of this role

  • Provide in-patient care to people admitted to the Palliative care unit
  • Liaise with other members of the multi-disciplinary team in providing patient care
  • Maintain an appropriate standard of personal professionalism at all times and in all activities undertaken
  • Implement a personal learning program for the term in conjunction with their Specialist Supervisor
  • Participate in after-hours care of palliative care inpatients


Qualifications | Work Experience | Skills and Competencies

Essential

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
  • Primary Medical degree, eligible for AHPRA registration, and a minimum of three years supervised practice as an RMO
  • Experience in Palliative Medicine or related specialty with competence in the individual specialty area expected to be consistent with the level of training and professional development stage attained by the individual occupying the position
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
  • Organisational ability – both personal organisation and ability to supervise others

Desirable

  • Advanced palliative medicine trainee (RACP, AChPM) or other Accredited trainees (eg other specialities, general practice)
  • Previous training in oncology (medical or radiation) or other relevant specialities
  • Experience in medical research and quality assurance
  • Experience in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • Working towards post-graduate qualifications in Palliative Medicine (including a palliative care diploma) or related specialty
