About the role  

This role sits within the Strategy & Policy Team who support our front facing Care units (Residential Care, Home Care, Hospitals, Advisory and the Hammond Centre) to provide advice on strategic planning, execute strategic priorities, and help shape the organisational voice and response to relevant federal and state policy.

This work is undertaken through dedicated areas focused on Strategy, Policy and Tenders. Reporting to the CFO, the Strategy & Policy Team works in partnership with the CEO and Executive Team and organisational subject matter experts.

This is permanent full-time position based at St Leonards with hybrid opportunities available.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Working with the Policy Manager and Government Relation Manager to plan and prepare tender submissions, position papers, policy responses and other written work
  • Support or lead the writing of Government submissions, tender responses or similar written responses to Governments, peaks or other bodies/institutions
  • Writing up of results, articles and presentations for internal and external communication
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of policy initiatives
  • Assisting in developing policy papers for HammondCare
  • Tracking, summarising and assisting in crafting policy submissions to government
  • Tracking research on sector data, reports, and market movements
  • Conduct research and/or literature reviews to support the Strategy & Policy team to understand and respond to reforms or Government consultation
  • Research global practice, review relevant journals and undertake peer comparisons to develop relevant datasets and insights to inform HammondCare’s views and positions
  • Work with the team to provide insightful data and policy positions to support the creation of HammondCare’s policy and positions
  • Help develop and manage an accessible catalogue of past policy statements and submissions to enable ease of reference as required for future tenders/ submissions
  • Support, as required, the other areas within the Strategy & Policy Teams purview

About You

  • Commitment to engage and align with HammondCare’s Christian Mission, Motivation and Mission in Action
  • At least one year’s experience working in a corporate environment in a similar role
  • Degree qualified – eg Bachelor of Arts/Communication, degree with strong focus on writing
  • Ability to work to deadlines, sometimes with tight timeframes, and work under pressure
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and team player with good presentation skills
  • Ability to liaise with people at all levels including senior management
  • Logical thinker with strong planning and organisation skills
  • Ability to distil complex ideas and volumes of content into simple, clear messages and concise summaries
  • Passion for the work of HammondCare
  • Experience crafting and submitting major tenders - desirable
  • Prior knowledge/ experience in health/ aged care - desirable
  • Detailed knowledge of HammondCare’s care units - desirable
