About the role

A rewarding opportunity for a passionate Medical Specialist to join the Dementia Support Australia (DSA) team on a Temporary Full Time or Part Time (Minimum of 0.6 FTE), up to June 2026 to be based at our Daw Park site.

This role is part of a national team of medical specialists supporting DSA in providing medical advice and support to the DSA Teams on cases across all program levels whilst working in partnership across the portfolio within the Dementia Centre and participating in developing evidence-based research based on practice and contribute to the outcomes of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive clinical reviews for cases within the DSA program
  • Contribute to the development of programs within the Dementia Centre and HammondCare
  • Participate in developing evidence-based research based on practice and contribute to the outcomes of the program
  • Support, educate and provide medical supervision of the ACTS multidisciplinary team of Dementia
  • Relationship-building and engagement with stakeholders within public hospitals and residential aged care facilities within the ACTS catchment area.
  • Consultants, Dementia Support Workers and Engagement Consultants.
  • Contribute to the development of guidelines, protocols, administrative processes and clinical governance processes within this new DSA service.
  • Manage wisely and escalate risks where there is reputational risk
  • Understand and engage with HammondCare Mission in Action, Model of Care, Case Management Framework and practice guidelines, policies and procedures

What do we need from you?

  • Current specialist registration with AHPRA as either a geriatrician or as a psychiatrist (Membership of the RANZCP Faculty of Old Age Psychiatry will be highly regarded)
  • Significant post-Fellowship experience within the public hospital system, ideally within a leadership role/roles.
  • Operational leadership of teams and reporting
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent stakeholder management and operational leadership of teams and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A current Australian drivers licence and willingness to travel
  • Empathy and patience
